Celebrate Recovery Northwest is founded on and committed to these Guiding Principles:

  1. Our Higher Power is Jesus Christ. It is our goal to honor and glorify Him in all that we do---in our worship, in our teaching, in our testimonies, in our small groups, in our step studies, and in our fellowship. We praise Him for His mercy and grace.
  2. The Word of God is our guidebook and authority. When in doubt, go to the source of authority, the Holy Scripture. As a ministry of Northwest Bible Church we were established under and are subject to the authority of the Elder Board.
  3. Anonymity and confidentiality are an absolute commitment and are essential to our “safe place”.

It is our desire for Celebrate Recovery Northwest to be a “Room of Grace” and a sanctuary of unconditional love . (see John Baker's Testimony)

After John Baker started Celebrate Recovery at Saddleback Church , Pastor Rick Warren did a series of eight messages he called The Road To Recovery. In this series, Pastor Rick incorporated The Twelve Steps of AA into The Eight Recovery Principles that are based on the Beatitudes from Jesus Christ's Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5). The Twelve Steps is a biblical model of how to live your life and The Eight Principles frame the model in the words of our Higher Power, Jesus Christ.

The Serenity Prayer is a picture of where we want to be—living with the “peace that transcends understanding” (Phil.4:7).

The section on What Is Celebrate Recovery? will help you understand what to expect at Celebrate Recovery Northwest.

The Celebrate Recovery Rules offer protection and are the basis of our “safe place”.

Check the resources section for descriptions of the step study booklets.
